Welcome to the NCAS Technical Development Blog

To quote Mark Watney – this blog is to highlight how NCAS loves to science the **** out of things.

What is this blog for?

This web page isn’t to showcase the results of our science. It’s our informal blog to share how we DO our science and to share resources and tools that others can use as well. If you’re not a Scientist, this blog might give you an insight into how atmospheric scientists work. If you’re an atmospheric scientist, but not a member of NCAS, then you should find insights into activities that you might want to collaborate on, or resources that we’ve made available to outside organisations. If you are within NCAS, this might be a good place to see what your colleagues are up to and maybe you would like to contribute too.

What you will find here

Our science themes include Climate and Global Change, Weather Science, Air Pollution, Digital Atmosphere and Scientific Training. To achieve our objectives we use existing tools in new and novel ways. Sometimes the tools don’t exist, or don’t do quite what we want – in this case we need to build new tools or modify, adapt or develop something we already have. Here at the Development Blog we are showcasing these novel methods and technical work. You will be able to see the kind of things we’re doing behind the scenes to enable our world-leading science.
